Casio slim solar Jan 16, 2012
By Norman A. Diaz I have multiple watches, so I bought this one as a occasional wearer that would display digital time in 24-hour format and not require periodic battery changes (The concurrent analog display was a bonus.) The slimmer design also appealed to me; most other Casio digitals are too thick for my taste. My use of the watch is as a timekeeper only that will automatically adjust to DST; I do not use the alarms, stopwatch, day/date displays, or keep track of time in other locations. The watch meets my expectations for a affordable price. I was impressed that the watch arrived fully charged despite having spent 5 days in transit. With daily exposure to existing ambient and/or artificial light, it has not discharged past the point where the indicator reads "high" (or as the display abbreviates it, "HI"). Minor complaint is the strap; it seems to be designed to fit lager wrists and wraps around too far on my thinner one. The keeper sometimes lets the strap slip out of its confines and "stick out" too much, just a minor annoyance that requires tucking it back in. I think the strap will work better when it is broken in more. The watch is a real lightweight, so if you like heavy watches, avoid this one. And another caveat, the digital display is blocked when the analog hour hand is at or near the 6 o'clock position, so rely on the analog time reading at that time. No one watch is perfect nor can meet all our needs, but I can't much fault this one for the price.

Good buy Jan 18, 2012
By Car dude Easy to read, VERY light weight, hence wrist band does not get stuck to skin - you don't even feel it. It's one of those watches that you don't even remember you're wearing it, until you need to check on the time.

Excellent watch Jan 13, 2012
By Gartan the Spartan Great Watch- totally worth its value and then some. Being in the military requires something that can take a beating and this watch is it. The analog works perfectly and keeps great time. As a caveat to one of the previous reviews this is made of the same material as the g-shock watches, its just not as thick. I owned a g-shock and another casio watch prior to this, the g-shock broke after about 4 years of taking a beating (chipped the face of it on a rock and eventually the crack grew and the face was ruined). I hope to get at least 4 years out of this watch. Had a luminox for about 2 years and the hands fell off. For the price of a luminox or top-of-the-line g-shock you could buy 4 of these. Plus- ITS SOLAR POWERED.
Overall, another great product from Casio. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Great watch, not so much the strap Apr 13, 2012
By Charles D. Schrock The watch is terrific. It is accurate and it's very light weight. As you see, it's solar rechargeable. An initial concern is unfounded -- doesn't appear to be any need to worry about it holding a charge. When I received it, it was fully charged and it has never dipped below that in the ensuing few weeks. On most days the watch just sits on the dresser so it's never really in direct sunlight.
The watch comes preset with the time and date. All you have to do is read the manual and tell the watch which time zone you're in and everything resets itself automatically.
The analog face is very readable. Even at night, the hands are sufficiently luminescent that I typically don't even need to use the (weak) LED light. Just so you understand, the LED only lights up the small digital window at the '6' position. If you're looking to use your watch to provide enough light to stumble out of the bedroom at night, this isn't it. But, like I said, you don't really need it to be able to read the time.
The bottom window is small. If you wear bifocal glasses, you may have to take them off to read the window. In its normal mode, this window shows one of the following: the time (digital), the date, or the day of the week. Since the analog face doesn't have a second hand, it also shows the seconds in all 3 modes. Additionally, the bottom window can show the other features -- timer, alarm, stop watch. Initially, when I read the manual, I was a little worried that the process for setting and using the various features was a little convoluted. I worried that I might need to keep the manual handy to remember how to get at the different capabilities. In practice, though, it's not bad at all. The button at the '8' position cycles through the basic functions - local time, UTC time, alarm, countdown timer, stopwatch. Then, when in 'alarm' mode for example, the button at '4' cycles through the various alarms. When you're at the specific alarm you want (it has several) the button at the '10' either turns it on/off or, if held, goes into the mode to set the alarm time. It's actually pretty easy to remember once you've done it a couple of times.
One caveat - the alarm is, shall we say, 'subtle'. I doubt it would wake most people so don't plan on using it as an alarm clock. Or, if you're in any type of reasonably loud environment, you might not hear it at all. Once again, that's not a problem for me but you should be aware.
The only thing I didn't like was the strap. It appears to be some type of silicone/rubber. It actually works fine, but I thought it was a little uncomfortable. Also, it was impossible to keep the free end of the strap from flopping around. So, I went to Amazon and bought an 18mm 'NATO' style band that was black/orange/gray. For an extra $10 I got a strap that I really like and I think it makes the watch look even better.
Summary - I like the watch a lot. The digital window is small. Only the digital window lights up at night. The alarm is quiet. The strap wasn't my favorite. With all this, I really recommend it because it does so many things well. I rated 4 stars instead of 5 because of the strap.
