Description

This diver series is the most popular collection that Orient has to offer. A feature that makes this model into a professional diver watch is its water-resistance of up to 200 meters. This is perfect for you if you enjoy scuba diving on your vacations to Hawaii. You will notice that this watch combines the timeless design of the dial with the sporty look of the bezel to create a work of art. This collection of diver watch is all mechanical. What this means is that it runs on the spring of the watch. When the diver watch is worn, it will automatically store power in the spring. Hence the name, automatic watches. The dial for this watch comes with both day and date indicators located at the 3 o’clock position. The day indicator is adjusted by unscrewing the push-button, located on the 2 o’clock position, and pushing the button for the specific day. The date indicator is adjusted by the crown (time-setting piece) located on the 3 o’clock position. This watch has a two-level crown which adjusts both the time and the date. The 1st level corresponds to the time while the 2nd level corresponds to the date. To adjust either level, you must first loosen the screw-down crown. The purpose of a screw-down crown is so that water does not enter the case. Not only does the crown have shoulders for added protection, but it also has the official orient logo engraved on the crown. Another attribute that adds to the value of this watch is its unidirectional bezel. The purpose of this feature is so that you can adjust the time bezel to the minute hand to see how many minutes have gone by. The time hands, as well as the hour indicators, are both luminescent. This allows for the owner to view the time during the evening. The band for this series comes in either stainless steel metal or black urethane. In the metal band variation, the links come in matte finish. You will notice the double-locking clasp and how it gives added protection so that the watch does not come off inadvertently. Unlike the metal band, the urethane variation comes in a deployment clasp. Since this collection is so popular, Orient offers a total of 8 variations to this watch: 4 with metal bands and 4 with urethane bands. Within the metal bands, there are different dial and bezel colors: black dial on black bezel, blue dial on blue bezel, blue dial on blue/orange bezel, and orange dial on black bezel. Likewise, the urethane band variation has different dial and bezel colors: black dial on black bezel, blue dial on blue/orange bezel, blue dial on blue bezel, and orange dial on black bezel.

5One of Best Watches I Own  Apr 28, 2010 By Richard B. Beverlin Jr.
I have heard a lot about this watch and just had to have one. I had one person say the bezel was hard to turn. Well use it a while and it is actually smoother than my Rolex GMT Master and that is a fact. The night illumination is on par or better than the Seiko Orange Monster and time can be clearly seen all night long.

I believe the rubber strap with the Blue Mako Shark on it looks better and is more functional than the steel watch band model.

The in-house 21 jewel movement keeps great time and is on par with the Seiko 5 movement.

The watch face is beautiful and looks even better than the Omega Seamaster for my taste.

It is very useful with the 200 meter water resistance as a dive watch and with the bezel great for other activities like aviation which require a good functional bezel. The one way bezel prevents it from being accidentally turned after set for timing.

Good day of week and date windows.

If you have a chance and the money to purchase one do not hesitate. I have over 70 watches last count from great Timexes to Rolex and this is a great watch period.

3Love the watch but .....  Sep 25, 2010 By mkmilan "mkmilan"
Love the watch but the bezel seems to be lightly painted, and normal wear started rubing it off: a shame !

4Cool watch, great price  Sep 11, 2010 By J. Pereira
i had read a lot about these Orient mako watches, enough to get so curious to the point i had to get one and see for myself.
Price was great and delivery by Amazon US( via UPS ) was as fast as it could be! :) Great service from Amazon as always!

It's light enough to wear without feeling you have a weight in your wrist and keeps good time so far. Still, too new to make any conclusions about accuracy.
The day it arrived i had left home to beach so sadly it didn't go with me that day but will do so someday.
However i trust it will hold it's own below water without any problem unless you really want to go deep.

Watch face makes light reflexions on it's blue face, great and has to be seen( Youtube has some videos where you can watch this reflexion quite well ).
Mineral cristal makes some sun reflexion effect that i found weird at first but no problem at all and even seems curious, looks like it has spherical reflexions in some angles.

Looks more expensive than it is and seems to be a great value for such a nice watch so i do recommend it also.
I also like the yellow or orange faces but who knows, at this price maybe i'll get one of those later on.
Also available in black but since i already had a black diver Citizen automatic watch and no blue watch in my collection, this came perfect! ;)

My girlfriend liked it too and we're now thinking of giving one to her nephew as a present, at this price it's a great choice and maybe then i'll think about that yellow or orange model for me! :D

3Great look, but inaccurate  Apr 30, 2010 By MCW
I like so much this watch, it looks great, but it has a really big problem for me, it's very inaccurate. I have other automatic watches (including another Orient) and all of them are very accurate. If I adjust the watch, in two days I have 5 to 10 minutes over! I can live with that, however I think that it's too much for a new quality watch.

5For under a hundred, you're getting a dive watch that's well finished with an in house movement.  Dec 29, 2011 By SaosinEngaged
Any watch enthusiast will tell you a company that makes their own movements in house scores extra points. With the exception of Seiko and Orient, this is mostly reserved to high end swiss brands that costs thousands upon thousands of dollars. Orient allows you to own a well-made and aesthetically pleasing divers watch that has a very reliable 21 jewel in house movement that so far seems very reliable and accurate enough.

You have to see this watch in person to appreciate the workmanship you're getting for under a hundred. The blue dial positively radiates in light and the finishing is indicative of a watch at least double or triple its price. This is the epitome of value, and you're getting a watch from a real watchmaker with history, instead of a watch case assembler that most companies are.

For the price, these are collectable. I plan to own one in every color. Extraordinary watch for the money. The band is not amazing, but it looks nice and is extremely comfortable, so I wouldn't even replace that.
