Great watch at a great price Feb 18, 2010 Great watch at a great price. The accuracy of the automatic movement has been great since day 1 and at less than $200 delivered, I couldn't be happier.

Seiko Company Sucks Dec 08, 2009 This "was" a great purchase - I thought. But after less than a year, the watch band broke. This IS covered by the warranty, but the customer service person at Seiko was a nightmare. She said that the watch band was obviously twisted, and basically, called me a liar. Nice Seiko! Good way to treat your customers!!

SKX175 more expensive at Amazon Jan 06, 2009 I was dissatisfied with this purchase at Amazon. Just a few days after I had purchased the watch, the same was advertised in the Amazon web site for $40 less. Amazon refused to lower the price. Customer service said they could not match prices from another stores within Amazon. I think this is a bad policy.
great watch Dec 31, 2008 This is my second seiko dive watch the first i bought 8 years ago and paid 400 hundred bucks for it ! wore it until last mo when i spoted it on amazon for 197 . the old one still was working great just a little scrached up ! bottom line is this is a hell of a durable watch and for 197 jump on it . you can't go any better . its big heavy and no doubt a man's watch ! it does run a little fast but big deal .

great value Sep 15, 2008 i bought this watch from amazon.com after reading all the reviews i could find (as well as the reviews on similar seiko models). having never seen the watch, i was a little skeptical, but i was able to find some additional photos on ebay. out of the box i absolutely love the look of the watch. the face is simple and very easy to read, a true masterpiece in design. a very handsome watch with a rugged and yet refined look (matches me perfectly harharhar). everything seems to be functioning properly. the luminous hands are very bright after exposure to sun and stay visible through the whole night. there are a lot of complaints about accuracy on this website but for the last 7 days (since i got the watch) it has consistently gained about 6 seconds per day, which seems very acceptable for an automatic watch of this price. also to note i wear this watch about 20 hours per day (if you include sleep), i only take it off to workout, surf and shower. many people complain about the bracelet and yes, it does feel pretty cheap and doesn't inspire much confidence at all (as far as not breaking). despite this, it is quite comfortable and looks good as well. the watch itself is nice and heavy and not as big as i suspected it would be. i have a 7" wrist and had to have a few links removed but the watch looks great on my arm, perfect size. before this purchase i was debating between a few different watches: the bulova marine star and the swiss army classic chrono. both seem to be pretty nice watches but i didn't like how the bulova is just a rip-off of the omega seamaster and the swiss army's face was just a little to busy for me (plus is more expensive than this watch). obviously if money was not an issue i would probably be wearing a rolex submariner or an omega but this watch seems to be a really good value for the money. i was considering wearing it out surfing but after hearing how my dad lost his when the band broke i'm thinking twice about that. with a rubber band i would take it out in a heartbeat. since i prefer not to know what time it is when surfing though, this isn't critical for me. all in all i would recommend buying this watch if you're looking for an 'affordable' yet beautiful and quality watch. and i would buy from amazon.com again.
update (2/18/09): after about 5 months the watch is gaining about 10 seconds per day, very acceptable. i have put it through quite a bit of abuse with minor damage. the face isn't truly scratch resistant, but i wouldn't expect that at this price. i've had several people mistake it for a rolex. i still love the watch!
