| | Description | The Seiko Men's 5 Automatic Blue Dial Stainless Steel Watch boasts high-tech Japanese automatic movement hidden behind classic analog styling. Precise 21-jewel Japanese automatic movement keeps this watch functioning without a battery: It is powered automatically with the movement of your arm. This high-tech feature is tucked away behind the watch's blue dial, which boasts luminous silver-toned hands and baton hour markers. The dial also sports a date window at the three o'clock position, and the entire dial is protected by a mineral crystal. Keeping all of this securely on your wrist is a stainless steel link bracelet that closes with a fold-over double push-button safety clasp. Other features include a stainless steel case and water-resistance to 99 feet (30 meters). | |

Seiko mechanical self-winding wrist watch May 10, 2009
By M. Gaieski This Seiko watch is a really nice wrist watch. I was impressed with it and I like the fact that I will not have to replace batteries as long as I own the watch. On the down side the watch does lose a few minutes over a period of time but that is a quick fix and it is not a big problem.

Looks like a cheap knock-off Nov 06, 2009
By W. Holtkamp I've owned a couple of nice Seikos in the past and when I saw the picure and price on Amazon I thought...wow what a nice watch and a great deal. After opening the box which didn't even come in Seikos trademark blue stamped box....this one was a generic black box with no Seiko booklet. I was disapointed to find a lightweight, rattle sounding band, cheap looking watch. It's not horrible but I would pay $50 off the rack at a discount store. I'm returning it but I have to pay $10 for a restock fee plus my shipping back to them.

Nice Piece Sep 09, 2009
By Bryan E. Moldt
"Chief"
I purchased this watch last month, and it hasn't left my wrist since I received it. I am impressed with the quality of the workmanship that went into this piece. The watch keeps time very accurately unless it is left for more than 36 hours. I have received a lot of compliments from clients and friends who love the blue face dial. I would recomend this watch to anyone who is tired of replacing batteries and winding their watch. Lovely piece!

Nice watch but band is poor Aug 24, 2011
By John Ross I like this watch because of the understated styling. This is my second Seiko 5 and like the first, it keeps time accurately enough for my purposes.
What I don't like is the band. Out of the box, some of the links were rigid although movable. This wasn't a problem when wearing the watch, but gives a clue as to the quality of the band. Rather than using pins for holding the links together, this watch uses little L-shaped pieces of metal. There is no flip-latch on this watch, so that only thing that keeps the band from opening is a metal pin that goes into a hole. For me, this does not provide enough security against the watch opening unexpectedly. The band opened on its own two times the first day I wore it as I reached into a box or desk drawer to pull something out. My other Seiko 5 is a diver's watch with an flip-latch that secures the pin-in-hole lock. Of course, I paid $160 for that, and here we are talking about a $50 watch. I'm not unhappy, but in the future I will pay as much attention to the band as to the watch itself.

Very nice watch for the price, some issues though Mar 16, 2011
By dimagog First of all several facts about this watch that you cannot see on the pictures:
1) The watch is quite heavy, everything is relative but be ready for that
2) The dial surface reflects light and its color changes in different lighting. The brighter the lighting the brighter the dial color. You get this dark blue color as on the picture only in very dim light or if the watch is turned away from a light source. In bright light the color looks much brighter, I think such a color is called royal blue. From the first sight and if you expect to get this dark blue color it may look even a bit distracting. But actually after some time I got used to it and now I like it. But its me, so be aware about this.
3) The box is probably not a Seiko genuine box, although it carries the Seiko name on it. The watch does have a tag but doesn't come with any kind of warranty/instruction/user manual, only one page of photocopied instruction.
4) The band assembly on my watch was not very accurate and I had to fix it with pliers. Also one of its ends that connects to the watch is 0.5mm shorter than the watch edge. Both these issues are barely noticeable though.
Taking into account the issues mentioned above and a low price I think that this watch is second rate product that didn't pass the strictest quality control due to some minor cosmetic issues. But of course this is only my speculation.
On the good side the watch looks very nice and solid on a hand and actually have a look of much more expensive models, certainly it looks far more than adequate for a casual watch.
Generally speaking and considering the price of this watch I am quite happy with this purchase.
