Nice military-style watch, but ... Dec 29, 2011
By wparij The Airboss Mach 5 GMT is great-looking military-style watch and can be clearly read both in light and in the dark. Its overall size allows for larger indicators on the dial which is great for someone getting close to retirement. I received this watch as a Christmas gift from my wife (though she got me to use my Amazon account), so I have only a few days experience with it. Since I travel a lot during the year, a GMT watch is my preference. To date I have found one weakness and one flaw as I perceive it.
The watchband not only complements the watch's looks, but the surface on the inside of the band prevents the watch from riding up to the hand and flopping to one side of the wrist. This is not trivial, as the watch is heavier than regular quartz watches. My general preference is for watches with bands not bracelets anyways, because I can't find a bracelet that will prevent the watch from sliding forward (unless you remove an extra link, where it sits too close to the back of your hand).
The case size does not seem to translate to a substantially heavier watch. I have smaller 38 mm watches (a Maurice Lacroix 5-hand, for example) that weigh about the same and this feels just as balanced and comfortable on the wrist as the others.
It's the time setting that is the weakness. Setting the time is very straightforward, following the same procedures as for almost all other Swiss watches; it's the markings on the dial which do not include a minute track, so setting the exact time is a bit of a chore since you can only be accurate at each of the 12 hour markers, and then only if the GMT ring is set properly.
I like to check my setting every 2nd or 3rd day, and have noticed that it gains about 4 seconds a day; maybe this will stabilize after a few weeks of use. I'm not anal about having the exact time as given by the NIST everyday; after all, it's better to be slightly early for a meeting than late.
The GMT ring, controlled by the upper crown, is the flaw, in my opinion. First, there are no stops that the markings can click into; the ring glides as you turn the crown stopping when you stop turning.
Unfortunately, the second factor is the crown whose stem protrudes from the case. Unlike the lower crown (for time setting), it cannot be pressed into the case. As a result it can be turned accidentally (putting on and taking off your parka, for instance), so your selected city under the maker on the edge of the bezel may have changed by one or two positions. On the road, this can lead to some confusion until you realize the problem with the shifted cities.
On the whole however, the watch was a great bargain at over 65% off the MSRP during the Black Friday sale. And, the seller shipped very quickly so that it was up here in Canada in plenty of time to be wrapped and put away for Christmas (unfortunately).

By tiger this a great watch running at cronometer level -+4 to -+6 sec a day with a ETA 2893 base on ETA 2892-2A for $375 is a still this worth around $900.00 i highly recomended if you looking for a great automatic GMT the ball is around 3000 and the rolex about 6000 with the same movement
Beautiful GMT Watch, However....... Apr 20, 2012
By leo Beautiful GMT watch if you travel often between cities, however without Minute Marks on it, having only Hour Marks, and it's very hard to set your time precisely and therefore making this watch to be rated of flaw in design. The automatic movement is high quality-made ETA 2892, but without Minutes Marks on it's face, the watch's accuracy that the most concern becomes meaningless!

Mostly okay, blame seller and manufacturer Mar 16, 2012
By Ted I bought this item (which has now been discontinued by Victorinox) in February 2012 when it was on sale for a mere $340. I chose the free 5-8 day shipping and was pleased when it arrived at my doorstep 6 days later; thank you Amazon and USPS.
This watch is beautiful! The strap material, case metal, watch face and caseback are all exquisite. The hands tick smoothly and very accurately-- after 3 weeks it hasn't lost a single second, which is amazing. It has a very nice weight with it; not too heavy, not too light. It feels substantial and manly on your wrist but isn't overpowering like a Zenith watch. Of course I could go on and on about how great everything else is, but that's not what you should be concerned about.
The first problem I noticed was that when it arrived, the sellers (Express Media) gave me a used box and a VERY used manual. They were beaten, scuffed, folded, and dirty. That was kind of annoying and a bad first impression. The watch and sleeve had also moved around during transit, so its entire trip from Illinois to my home in Virginia was spent bouncing around, which definitely is not good. The next problem I noticed was that there was already a scratch on the case itself, possibly from poor handling or the bumpy ride. And a day later, after I figured out how to read the 24-hour GMT clock, I found out that it was an hour fast, probably an error during manufacture. Pretty disappointing. Another issue is that this watch can be very difficult to remove. The pin on the buckle is very very very thin and I always have to use my nails, which barely exist, along with some work to open remove the watch.
However, overall it is still a great watch. It's pretty, feels manly, looks manly, and the GMT function can be very useful if assembled correctly. Just be wary of super low deals and shady merchants.
