Satisfied Feb 12, 2011
By js I purchased this watch only two weeks ago, but am already very satisfied with it. I also own a Wenger diver's watch (worth double my new seiko), but find the seiko to be lighter and more comfortable on my small wrist, and just as accurate as a time piece and chronograph. (The specifications make it clear that it is not as accurate as my swiss time piece, but such matters don't matter unless you are concerned about seconds over the course of months, in which case you ought to buy a digital watch or a far more expensive analog!).
I'm writing this review because my wrists - which are small for an adult male - made it very difficult for me to find an affordable chronograph watch that looked appropriate and didn't feel too heavy. After lots of shopping, I realized that this watch is not only thinner and lighter than most, but also has a sporty face and an elegant profile without exceeding the 40mm bezel size (for those interested, this watch is considerably smaller than seiko's other line of chronograph alarm watches, and it is also smaller than their most of their kinetic watches). For people who desire a lower-profile chronograph for whatever reason, I suggest you give this watch a try. It is much more elegant in person, btw - the Amazon picture does not do the timepiece justice - and the watch also looks terrific with a black leather band if you want something even more casual/sporty (I prefer metal). That being said, the watch is priced fairly--it does not "look" like something more expensive than it is.
As for the review complaining about the battery: I've found that it is standard procedure for mail-order watch stores to set and start the watch so that it is running upon arrival (just as a department store will set a watch when it is purchased, but not necessarily before).
Great Watch Since 1992 Apr 13, 2012
By C. Mixon I have had this model Seiko since 1992. It has never failed me. The style is handsome and the mineral crystal looks as good as the day I purchased it; and I have been hard on it. The case has never discolored my wrist like some watches when sweat degrades the metal. The links and battery are easy to change and the battery last about 3 yrs. This is one tough watch since I have had it 20 yrs. Honda gave is great cars, and Seiko gave the world a great, economical watch.
Nice watch - Not readable at night Dec 04, 2011
By Ed Cal I ended up returning a great watch. I reallly liked the high-tech look without being too bulky or over the top. As it turns out it is impossible to read in low light situations. The narrow hour and minute hands are hard to see in their own right. They get completly lost in anything less than full light. I ended up getting another Seiko because I like the brand.

Decent watch for the price Jan 09, 2011
By Yundee I've been looking for a chronograph watch that is not huge and heavy and found this to be a decent one at an Amazon XMas price much lower than at the mall (it has gone up though). I have small wrist and this turned out to be of the right proportion and weight. Not sure how many people would use the chronograph functions today, but to me those little quadrants are just for look, but they do make the watch look better and sophisticated. It is easy to remove extra links in the band to fit your size. Now, a little griping. The watch came with the battery pre-installed and running, not sure for how long before and how that would affect the battery life. Also it appears that the luminous hands and the hour markings have some kind of luminous coating (?) but they cannot be seen in the dark.

small / delivery ok Mar 06, 2012
By Marcio I found the small clock. Much smaller than the image appears. Amazon delivered on time. In the picture you can not get a sense of actual size.
