5Excellent value for a set-it-and-forget-it 200M Divers watch  Mar 24, 2012 By wes_mantooth
All my other divers are automatics, and through the process of rotating them out every day or two, they often run down. Wanted at least one relatively inexpensive battery-powered watch that still retained a good level of quality but didn't skimp on the features.

The good:

-Actual 200M Divers watch; if you'r familiar with Seiko at all, you know that this designation means that these watches are actual, ISO-compliant diver watches, it's not just a marketing term.
-Great lume. As with most Seiko divers, the lume is excellent. Nicer still is that the lume paint color is white on this model as opposed to the more common greenish tint. (It of course still glows green.) The white contrasts nicely with the black dial for a fairly dress appearance.
-Fit and finish are typical Seiko which is to say very good.
-Bezel action is superb, not too tight, not too loose, but manages to feel both positive and smooth.
-Screw down crown operates easily, does not feel loose or wiggly.
-The second hand actually hits the chapter ring marks (the hand aligns with the markers on each second tick), which while not a big deal gives the impression of quality.
-The bracelet is actually made up of multiple pieces, much to my surprise. The thin polished pieces in the middle of the links are actually separate little pieces, not just a polished portion of the link.
-Solar technology is pretty neat, will charge in any light, though fastest in sunlight and a full charge will get you 10 mos of service. Not bad.
-The black dial has a nice sunburst pattern to it, looks great. The solar cell is beneath the dial, so you aren't forced to look at the pattern of a solar cell.
-The contrast of the polished and brushed surfaces is done really well, looks striking in person.
-Not too big at 42mm across, but if you're used to 44mm and up, this might seem small. Looks ok on my 7.25" wrist, but I'm accustomed to larger watches.

The "meh":

-Bracelet does not use solid end links at the case. This is not as bad on this model as there's not much end link on this watch to begin with, but still an obvious nod to the price point I think.
-Bracelet is easy to re-size but the middle of the link has tiny little barrels that will be nearly impossible to recover if you drop them. These are not split-pins, they are straight pins that you push through the barrels to keep them tight. Separate polished link pieces makes this operation a little fiddly but do-able at home if you have a bracelet tool. (Like you should.)
-It's not an automatic. ;-)
-It's only 42mm. ;-)

Otherwise, for the $164.00 I paid for this watch, I'd highly recommend it. Looks great, has the real street (or maybe beach) cred of being a real ISO Diver's watch, and should be stone cold reliable for many years. For this type of watch in this price range, I'm not sure there's much from any other brand that can compete.

5very good watch  Jan 07, 2012 By mathew park
Received it two days ago. This will pass as a fine dress watch. It looks really nice and elegant while it clearly suggests that it's a function oriented watch: solar, dive watch to 200m, bezle, diver's extension bracelet, simple design..., etc. I took out three links to make it fit my wrist. The s.s. bracelet is very comfortable. I will be test driving it as a dive watch next two weeks, and I will report back how it fared under water. I like that I will never have to wind or change the battery to keep it working!
Report: (Jan.20,2012)I went open water diving with it for 6 days straight to maximum depth of about 20 meters for 3-4 hours daily. It worked out great. Easy to read under water and didn't have any water or moisture problems. Just rinse the salt water off it after use with other diving equipment and that was easy. Also, the lume is so good, I can read the time without turning on the lights in the middle of the night.
I recommend it. it's a fun watch to have.

5Seiko SNE107  Aug 11, 2011 By A. G. Smith
Bought this at Costco for $179. I often forget to take off my watch before going into the pool, so I wanted a stainless watch, good for 200M etc. I often wear a watch to bed at night and like being able to see the time by the glow of the watch face. As this is a divers watch, its big, heavy, and seems to be rugged. The electronics indicated a few (15) seconds per month accuracy.
Additionally, the light charging of the battery was a great feature. I have another Seiko thats over 30 years old and still running, and another watch that is light charging thats over 5 years old and still never had to mess with a battery. Great expectations for this watch.

4Very Good With One Exception  Sep 12, 2011 By G. Magno "magnum"
I love this watch for it's accuracy and construction, but the date mechanism is fickle. In other words, you set it for English names of days (gives you the option of other languages), and everything was fine until the new week started, then the language changed. I called the "reluctant to help" support, and she said it's under warranty for three years. That was her easy way of weaseling out of answering me properly. She was not familiar at all with this watch and put me on hold for 5 minutes trying to find one like it but couldn't. If it continues, I will take it back. Otherwise, being a diver, this is a very good buy considering the price of most dive watches...
