Great Watch Dec 30, 2009
By LMER

I bought this watch for my 6 year old son who is learning how to tell time. He loves it. He can read the watch and tells us the time almost every hour. It's comfortable for him to wear. The band is easy to use and stays on.

Second time's the charm, not! (Updated Review) May 05, 2011
By J. Lewis First time around the watch was dead on arrival. I tried a new battery, just in case, but still did not work. Amazon was very quick and easy on the exchange and the second one worked just fine. My son quickly picked up on the training numbers and within a day had figured out how to tell time on non-training clocks.
I have a feeling the stretch band is going to fade out somewhat quickly but other than that, the band is easy to adjust and easy for kids to take the watch off an on. My 6 year old has very small wrists and we were able to adjust to his size without issue.
I rated a 3 due to the first item DOA, which seems to be a pattern based upon other Amazon comments. Hopefully it will last for a full year of kid wear and tear, if it does I'll be pretty happy. Time will tell, (pun intended).
*** Update Downgrade to 1 star - Watch lasted all of 4 months. With very/extremely light use, yesterday the watch stopped functioning while sitting on a table overnight. The light still worked, I replaced the battery with a brand new battery just in case it was running low, still the hands no longer move even though the light shines bright. Will not purchase a Timex again.

OK but wrist band still too big Feb 17, 2011

Bought this for my 4 year old. Love the easy on/off elastic band but it's still slighly too big for my son unless I were to tighten the strap and trim off the excess band (which will then be too small to enlarge as he grows with it). Nice lighting on the watch and easy to read numbers though. And what boy doesn't love sharks!

Dead battery and no moving sharks inside Dec 22, 2010
By TerraW We order Timex watches for 2 kids, and the gecko one has 2 small geckos that rotate with the hands. The shark one does not, meaning the kids will probably think the gecko one is better. Also the shark one arrived complete dead. I assume it needs a new battery but not exactly gift-ready! I will be returning it for one with moving decor inside.
Good watch band is sub par Mar 17, 2012

The watch is nice and I am comparing it to the Timex Kids' T79051 My First Outdoor Black Fast Wrap Watch as that is the best one I have found for a kid. The problem with this watch is that the strap is not secured so it flops out and gets in the way. Also the face light up about half as bright as the one I'm comparing it to. The blue graphics started to come off after a few weeks. Not bad maybe for a kid who only wears it to the mall.
