| | Description | While it looks like a sturdy but casual watch, this Timex Expedition is built to excel just about anywhere you take it, as demonstrated by its most celebrated owner, Everest mountaineer Conrad Anker. The hands are illuminated, and the white dial also features the Indiglo night light function and a date calendar at the three o'clock position. Arabic numerals and full indexes allow for easy time-keeping in any situation. The strap is leather. The metal case is water resistant to 165 feet (50 meters), the black bezel is aluminum. The watch uses analog-quartz movement and is backed by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. | |

Excellent watch for the price Dec 22, 2008

I love this watch. I bought a previous version of it in a department store about 8 years ago. The original watch is still working, but after 8 years of rugged outdoor use the band is almost worn through, the crystal had been scratched quite a bit, and paint is wearing off of the bezel. When it came time to replace the battery I decided to replace the whole watch instead, and was delighted to learn that it was still being sold. The only differences I notice with the new watch are that the band is a lighter shade of brown and it is MUCH easier to advance the date at the end of a month having fewer than 31 days. The face is easily read in the dark with a press of the dial. This is the only watch I wear, and I expect to be wearing it for at least another 8 years.

Gave it a lickin' and the watch is still tickin' Sep 03, 2011
By Bushwacker I bought this watch to replace the exact model that I bought in 2001. The watch I bought in 2001 still works perfectly, but the band finally broke after almost 10 years of use and abuse! The replacement watch has been in service for a little over 6 months so far, and it appears to be just as good as the old one. I bought an extra one for when the replacement breaks or dies. If both new watches last me 10 years each like the first one did, I will be retired and will no longer need to know or even care what time it is anymore :-)
still tickin' since 1996 Jan 23, 2012

This watch was introduced in 1996, came in white face and black face. I bought one at walmart exactly like this one and it still keeps time to the second with an atomic clock. I recently put in a new battery and added a beige maratac military band (not a zulu) and used a sharpie on the black bezel and the dang thing looks brand new. I'm not sure if you can get a new one like the one in the picture as I can't imagine timex selling the exact watch they once did 16 years ago; but they do make a very similar one. This watch is not on their website and is probably used here. But I can vouch for its longevity and durability.
Good-looking, durable watch Jan 17, 2011

I bought two of these for my elementary-age grandsons, and the boys loved them! So far they've held up well as the boys wore them hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, skiing, and while doing other "rough" activities. Although they are advertised as a "man's watch," they did fit the boys (after their dad put another hole in the band for them). The kids love the big dial, too.
old reliable Nov 30, 2010
By Harry Zweier I have one of these watches that's now probably ten years old--maybe more. The band is deteriorating, the bezel is all scratched up, but it keeps on ticking. I don't know why but of all the expedition watches, this is one of the ones I like the most in looks. Function? Basic. It works. Very thin and light if that's what you are looking for--smaller than the other expedition watches. I'm looking at all the expedition watches because I like the styling but I'm seriously considering just getting another one of these because it's been a champ for me.
