A fine looking watch that keeps time well...but caveat emptor! May 23, 2007
By Justin Harrison I purchased this watch hoping for a basic timepiece that would provide me with at least a couple of years of dependable service. The price was right, the watch was handsome looking (based on Amazon's photo), and I was excited about using the "Indiglo" night-light feature.
The watch arrived and I was pleased with how it looked, though I had hoped the watch face would be larger. It's definitely a man's watch, though my subjective feeling is that the face should be somewhat larger. The instructions were certainly simple enough, and I soon had the watch set up and ready to show off. The best feature "was" the aforementioned Indiglo night-light, which is activated by pressing the watch's crown in.
I went out that evening to join a couple of friends for drinks at a local watering hole. I showed them the watch and illustrated the Indiglo feature. The both shared my sentiments concerning the watch's design and thought the Indiglo lighting was exceptional. I went to the restroom at some juncture during the night and washed my hands. Immediately afterwards, the Indiglo light refused to come on when activated, and still will not some nine days later.
The watch still looks great and the time seems to be keeping pace, but I'm still disappointed that the Indiglo light would extinguish itself forever after a single hand washing. The watch is evidently capable of being submerged to a depth of 50 meters, so I can't imagine why this would have happened.

Great watch Jan 11, 2007
By Cheri D. Mendenhall Great watch for agreat price.I was my hands frequently, so water resistant is good option for me. I also work nights so having the Indiglo is a great perk. I have a previous Timex and I was pleased with it, I expect I will get many good years with this one.

Expedition review Apr 06, 2007
By Rick Rod I had a previous Expedition watch that lasted many years and served me well. I purchased this new version and so far haven't been disappointed. If you're looking for a basic watch that tells time and has a backlight, I don't think you can go wrong for the money.

This is the watch for me. Jul 21, 2010
By D. Harkins I own three of these and am about to order a fourth. I have been wearing this same model for about fifteen years. I like to have three of them so that I can keep different colored bands on them to go better with whatever I'm wearing. I just use the original band until it wears out and then replace it with whatever band I want. It uses a 20mm band and a CR2016 battery, by the way. I keep one on a brown leather band and one on a black leather band for casual wear. And I keep another one on a black rubber watch band for swimming and sports use.
These watches don't really seem to wear out, but I'm about to throw one away just because I messed up the back of the case changing the battery myself with makeshift tools too many times. In fact, one of the good things about a watch that only costs this much is you can use it for ten or fifteen years and then if something goes wrong with it, you don't feel bad about throwing it away and just buying a new one. :-)
I go swimming with mine on all the time and have never had a problem with it being completely waterproof to normal swimming pool depths (5-8 feet). The white face and big numbers make it easy to read during the day. And I really like the Indiglo feature. Just push the button and the whole face lights up. The date is large enough to be readable too.
I don't really get why some people spend so much money on watches when a good, reasonably priced Timex Expedition like this one tells the exact same time. Of course, looks are subjective, but I think it looks just as good too. You can't go wrong with this watch. It's ruggedly built and a great value. It will last you just as long as a watch costing ten or twenty times as much money. And it will tell you the very same time. Isn't that what a watch is all about?
