A Truly Beautiful Timepiece Mar 07, 2011
By Philip D. Boettge

This is the most beautiful watch I have ever owned. My wife chose it for me as a 2010 Christmas present. I love the blue & gold colors - blue is my wife's favorite color and the combination reminds me of my service in the Navy. The face is extremely easy to read at a glance as are the date window and second hand dial. The dark blue background, white markings, and gold hands and hour marks are perfectly coordinated with a low-glare glass for easy viewing. The "chronometer function" is very useful for precisely timing sauteeing, searing, or frying tender foods like garlic, shrimp, and scallops. My one criticism is that the "chronometer function" requires some attention to see the minutes incrementing on the alarm dial - the alarm dial is a little too small for this approach to a "chronometer." (No, this is not a true chronometer. A true chronometer is a certified timepiece usable for solar and stellar navigation.) The band is sturdy with an excellent fit that doesn't pinch. The clasp has a two-button release rather than one of those tension designs that tend to warp and weaken. The entire finish is brushed with polished gold contrasts. A truly beautiful comnbination of form and function.

A bit of misrepresentation Mar 30, 2012
By casper Okay, the watch is truly a great piece. All hands are aligned the way they should be and the operations are flawless. A great time piece for the price......very classy and it keeps time to the second! The band is massive and fits well and it is a heavy watch! My only real concern is the face of the one I received is black and not blue color. The only way I can see even a slight shade of blue is in the correct sunlight, and then I must turn the watch to the correct angle to achieve that. I bought this watch with anticipation of a blue dial, not black. However, rather than go through the hassel of returning and waiting again for shipment, I will get used to the color(or lack of blue color). I have owned Seiko watches for many, many years and this one is probably the most 'massive'. You will definately know you are wearing a watch on the wrist! I wish I could give this purchase a 5-star rating, but I cannot due to the incorrect colored face I received versus the one advertised. A 5-star is applicable for the watch workings and band, but not for the misrepresentation of a blue faced color.

SNDB05 Blue Dial 7T92 Chronograph - I Love it! Mar 10, 2012
By Luger M. Axehandle

Just a little over three weeks, and I'm still impressed. I can only echo other people's comments about it being a gorgeous watch. If I'm not a total klutz, this could last as long as the last Seiko I wore. My old one finally had the day and date get crooked, and I chipped an edge of the crystal. Not bad for about 25 years, but time to move on. It still runs, by the way...
This has the same general trim - blue dial, and two-tone housing and band. My idea of classy. A man's piece of jewelry, but not overstated like those 50+ mm presentation pieces some like to wear. Not too thick or heavy either - hey, I'm a mid-sized guy, looking for everyday wear. Played around with the band; put a link back in a few days ago, and improved the comfort considerably. Yeah, bought one of those 16 piece kits, and am really glad I did.
Craftsmanship is impressive - every hand is perfectly aligned. Can't say how unimpressed I was to read reviews of some comparably priced, similarly styled watches from another company that came with crooked hands - those customers should feel like invictems, you know? Over 20 years of knockabout? OK. New? No stinking way. Performance? In three weeks, it has lost about 1 half second per week. As much as that bothers me - really - I know an automatic would have driven me crazy. How could someone tolerate + or - as much as a minute in a day? Yikes!
Anyway, instead of date and day, I opted for the date plus a stopwatch. First, I admit I just like the look of the extra little gold dials and hands on the blue face... But, really, it has come in quite handy at the grill. I tend to forget just when I put stuff on the heat - especially after a couple of beers - so overdone meat is already becoming just a bad memory. I'm timing my work drives, the time in the 'fast' food line. Yeah, a little obsessive, but that's me. Work in a lab over 20 years, and see if it doesn't happen to you. Yes, it is hard to read the dial showing the number of elapsed minutes. That is the cost of age, and fading eyesight, which I must bear to bear this kind of style.
If I were traveling a lot, I might have justified spending more to get an alarm, or an easy way to see time in another country. Well, I already have a watch that does those things, but this one is prettier. And, I don't travel a lot, so that's no excuse to spend more. The band already has some scratches, but I haven't done anything to the crystal - yet. Sapphire would be nice, but Hardlex will have to do. From experience with the last watch, I'm glad the gold trim is less out front. It wore very noticeably. This one protects the gold better, so I expect I'll still be happy with the looks a decade or two down the road. That would be acceptable, especially at the price Amazon sold this for.
Long story short? It is gorgeous now, and I expect it to be equally so 20 years from now - except it will have a little more 'character'. It fits me, and the price I paid did too. Amazon is a Seiko dealer, and their pricing is always solid. Getting it on sale, as I did, just makes it feel even better. Now, all that is left to do is register it with Seiko!

SEIKO Men's Two Tone Stainless Steel Chronograph Blue Dial Watch Mar 27, 2011
By TAT B-day give for my husband - had to give it to him a day early because a link had to be removed as well as the watch battery needed to be replaced, otherwise the watch was exactly as described.
