Description

Bold and sporty looking, the Wenger Men's Nomad Compass Red LED Black Silicone Strap Watch is tough enough for outdoor adventures but stylish enough for indoor wear. It also bears a pedigree: Swiss company Wenger was one of the original manufacturers of the Swiss army knife in 1908, and the company applies the same exacting engineering standards to its products today. Featuring a timing bezel that doubles as compass, the versatile watch also boasts both an analog display and a digital readout. Luminous hands sweep around a black dial that boasts easy-to-read Arabic numerals in white. A black plastic band fastens securely to your wrist with the help of a buckle. The timepiece is cased in sturdy stainless steel and is water resistant to 330 feet (100 meters).

3Almost Perfect  Mar 15, 2010 By MMA guy
Pros:
-It is heavy, durable, and has a quality feel to it. It's a Wenger of course
-The compass feature is awesome and it works fairly accurately.
-Easy to follow instructions for setting time and compass
-Accuracy is excellent

Cons:
-Very weak illumination on the numbers even when charged by external light sources.
-No illumination on the hands at all, then why would you illuminate the numbers?
-No way to tell time in the dark aside from pressing the digital time.
-Watchband has a strong rubber smell. It might be annoying to some
-Price

For less money you can purchase a number of Casio, Seiko, and Citizen watches that will provide you with better reliability and features that are not available on this watch. I really liked this watch, but the absense of the illumination was a deal breaker for me.

5Utility and great looks  Jan 17, 2010 By Sand Lizard "Sandlizard"
The Wenger Nomad is the most stealthy ana/digi watch I own or have seen. Except for the four pushers, 2 on each side, you would never guess it has digital capabilities. The sun ray black face is beautiful, with stylish, easy to read hands. A push and any button reveals a large easy to read, red digital display, with all expected functions, time, day, and date. The surprise function is a digital compass that not only works well, you can enter declination for your location so it is accurate too. The only short coming of this watch is the rubber band. If you have a wrist larger than 7.5 inches you will need to purchase a larger band. I would not let that stop me, though, this is a very unique and sporty compass watch. Of course it is Swiss made, and the quality shows.

5High quality product  Dec 09, 2010 By Camper
Very high quality watch. LED are brighter than pictures show. I thought a previous review stating the blue covers on the buttons was odd until I tried to remove them. Wow, it was a pain, he was correct. Beautiful watch that easily catches eyes and gets compliments. I own many high quality watches and this is both utilitarian, and has a classic look for using at work. I recommend this watch, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Amazon's free shipping was very good value as it arrived sooner than they stated, only five total days.

4Really solid and appealing.  Feb 04, 2010 By Alan Karl Church "Alan Karl Church"
This one has intrigued me for a while. I have not been disappointed. Very good looking and serious watch. The LED displays pop out in the dark as visibly as could be wished.

I note others have had complaints with the strap. I replaced my strap with a 22m/m nylon NATO type immediately upon receipt, so I have nothing useful to add there.

I opted for the free shipping, and it stated that this shipping is not fast-and it wasn't. Can't complain, it was clearly so stated, but be advised if you need one in a hurry that a shipping upgrade is very much in order.

The compass has proven MUCH easier to calibrate than my Marathon Navigator II digital. It only took a couple of minutes, and the procedure was so simple you kept looking for what you'd overlooked in the procedure-turns out you hadn't neglected anything.

Quite a nice wristwatch, especially for someone who works in the early hours.

3Good watch  Nov 24, 2010 By djm
This is a nice watch. It looks good, feels good on your wrist and has a good price. I do not know whey they bother illuminating the number and not the hands as well. The illumination is not very strong either. The LED compass, date, time and day light up very brightly. I am not sure about the compass. You have to calibrate it constantly to get an accurate reading. It is easy to do but still a pain. You also have to adjust the mechanical time of the watch and the electrical time of the watch to match up at least once a month. The vibration from daily use with throw the synchronization off. Over all a good watch not great but still the best analog, mechanical watch I have seen.
