date function is broken. Oct 02, 2011
By rasta5 I bought this wenger's watch. But date function was broken. I had experienced such a thing before this time. It is disgusting.
Excellent Chronograph Jul 05, 2011
By Pen Name This is probably one of the better chronographs out there. I have it in mind to check out some of the other Wenger models, including some of the other Commando models, as a result of this purchase. Extremely stylish and functional. The only thing any man can find to complain about this watch would be its color options.
Excellent layout of the watch face, easy to use chronograph and date functions. Like most analog watches, you must adjust the date following shorter months, but this is more a rite of ownership for a watch with simple aesthetics and pure function without the modern age automation.
The strap can be a bit messy, but the stitching on the clean black leather definitely makes it stand out. If you like leather wrist straps, than you shouldn't take issue with this one, except in cases where sizing would be an issue. This one might be a bit tight for some. However, if you lean toward the active side of the spectrum, then the leather band might not be the way to go. It does become tacky once sweat and other moisture intrude, but this kind of substitution is small considering the quality in the time piece itself. I only bring this up because the other Commando variants come with rubber straps.
The rotating bezel ring might be useful for some, but it struck me as redundant considering the internal ring is similarly marked. This is my only complaint with this watch. I would have preferred better pronounced second/minute markers on the inner ring considering a rotating bezel was an added feature. There is no need to duplicate this effort at the expense of clearly delineated and marked seconds on a chronograph. My guess is that most will only consider these features stylish instead of functional. The second/minutes are marked around the edge of the watch face, but they are very tiny, hard to read, and are marked over in cases where the tachymeter on the inner ring intrude. This makes for confusing time keeping when using the chronograph exclusively.
Finally, the chronograph itself is clearly the stand out feature. The minute dial will click-advance on every half minute. And the 30-minute dial is easily readable except in dimly lit conditions. The hour dial on the bottom of the watch face moves progressively and will not click-advance like the minute dial. These are excellent features for anyone needing solid chronographic functions. However, fractional seconds are not counted with this chronograph, and the second hand will click-advance.
watch review from a true enthusiast. May 07, 2011
By brian the commando series of watches from wenger happens to be my favorite everyday watch. this one in particular. it is very very comfortable to wear all day. even with the thick 14mm x 42mm case it sits on the wrist perfectly(even with my tiny wrists). the leather band is well made and very pleasing to look at and wear. you can tell the crafstman ship is top notch and will last. the styling will go along with anything you happen to throw on for the day. it's just as at home with your favorite pair of worn out jeans and t-shirt, or with your 9-5 business casual attire. all the dials and hands are as precise as can be, even under magnification i can't find a single flaw or short fall. i've also been getting compliments on this watch left and right. people expect it to be an $800+ watch(especially my commando with the SS bracelet) but when i tell them how much i actually payed for it, their jaws drop. for me i refuse to wear anything over $500 on my wrist as an "everyday" watch. and for the money wenger is my only choice.

Amazing Watch, especially for the money Jan 30, 2011
By Careful Critic This watch is absolutely amazing, especially for the price. This is like a top-dollar Swiss watch, built like a tank and with as many features as a $multi-thousand Breitling. The slide rule is really fascinating and it will do currency conversions, metric to imperial, and multiplication and division. However, it ships with the wrong manual so you have to download the "SR Chrono" manual from the Wenger website.
