Great retro watch for a decent price Jan 09, 2011

I got this watch from the shopemco vendor just last week. It came on time and properly wrapped in the official metal box, but it was already running, so I'm not sure how much battery is left in the watch.
I bought it because it had all the functions I wanted: three hands, date, high water resistance.[...] I might eventually change the straps to brown leather when the current one wears out, because brown goes with my wardrobe better.
I'm very happy with how this watch looks in person. The picture makes the bezel look super domed and shiny, which I think makes it appear less clean-looking. But to my relief, the bezel in person looks more flat and not as shiny. Although the hands don't glow very much in dim lighting and only glow when it's very dark, I've had no problems telling the time (but then I have fairly good vision). The straps are solidly-made but probably will need some breaking into. I have small wrists (less than 6 inch circumference) and use the second smallest strap adjustment (there are 7 in total), so unless you are really petite, you shouldn't have to change the straps for smaller ones.
The only concern I have is with the crystal. It's raised higher than the bezel and therefore not very much protected against breakage and scratches. It's not covered by the warranty.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. I definitely recommend it to everyone who's looking for a practical classic watch that's not super oversized or dainty. I will add an update if something goes wrong.

Good basic watch. Unfortunately, within minutes my husband found it cheaper on a different site...that is the only complaint I would have.

I bought this watch because I wanted a classic looking watch. This definitely is it. The only downside is that the face and band are on the big side, so for someone with small wrists it can really dominate.
